Philips consumer website wins Gold iF award

Hannover, Germany – Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI) is proud to announce that the Philips consumer website (www.consumer.philips.com) has been awarded a Gold iF award for communication design.


The Philips consumer website is truly consumer-friendly, designed around the shopper at every step along the purchasing process. Visitors to www.consumer.philips.com flow easily through the stages of the shopping process – from research, to comparing products and final purchase – and find everything they need quickly and simply. As an example, there is a useful “elimination tool” that allows the visitor to specify the criteria they’re looking for and ideally ending up with their preferred product, a seamless experience created by using Adobe Flex technology. The website is visited by 71 million visitors, with content automation and design integrated in 57 countries and 33 languages.

About the award

The iF communication design award represents a cross-section that is reflective of the current state of design. The focal points for the jury’s assessment include animation, atmosphere, interface, screen design, typography, sound, photography, product communication, image, sales promotion and corporate publishing, within the project category being judged. The Philips publication won in the category of digital media – screen design.


The 2008 iF communication design award competition attracted 1,290 projects from 16 different countries. The iF awards ceremony will take place on 29 August, 2008 in Hannover.
