Oscar Peña’s main function at Philips Design is Senior Creative Director for Lighting. Since joining Philips Design in 1987 he has been involved in numerous consumer projects. Whether designing on a conceptual level or for the mass market, Oscar’s focus on the human content of contemporary design is a recurring theme in his work. His most recent accomplishment is directing the design team in the creation of ‘OH…LED’, a design exploration combining ambient and functional lighting, with the emphasis firmly on interaction and gesture.
Oscar was appointed Head of the Man and Activity department at the Design Academy Eindhoven, The Netherlands, in 1996 and reguarly lectures at universities and conferences.
In 2005, Oscar took part in the London Design Museum’s ‘Under a Tenner’ exhibition, in which 15 of the world’s top designers were profiled.
